HOW DID YOU CREATE THE SAME TEXTURE AS SEAFOOD?
We broke new ground in the plant-based seafood world by creating the flaky texture of seafood using a complex R&D ingredient process and technology called extrusion. Some of us believe the fish gods were watching over us!
WHAT ARE THE PRINCIPAL INGREDIENTS IN GOOD CATCH?
We currently make all our products from the same base ingredients. Our protein source and texture come from Good Catch’s proprietary 6-legume blend: peas, chickpeas, lentils, soy, fava beans, and navy beans. We use algae oil for seafood flavor and omega-3 DHA.
WHY A LEGUME BLEND VS. A SINGLE LEGUME?
We found that using a blend of chickpeas, soy, peas, lentils, fava and navy beans allowed us to create the exact flakiness of tuna fish—with a bonus: the blend is easier to digest than a single legume.
WHAT IS A LEGUME?
It’s a plant that belongs to the Fabaceae or Leguminosae family that produces edible high-protein seeds inside their pods.
WHY EAT PLANT-BASED?
Plant foods provide a wealth of nutrients that help reduce the risk of disease, maintain a healthy weight and allow more sustainable farming of the planet. A plant-based diet also supports animal welfare.
WHY DO YOU USE SOY IN YOUR PRODUCTS?
We include a very small amount of non-GMO soy in Good Catch products to help create its signature texture. When you do enjoy soy products, we recommend making sure they are minimally processed and GMO–free.
ARE ALL OF THE INGREDIENTS IN GOOD CATCH PRODUCTS NON-GMO?
Yes. We proudly use only non-GMO ingredients in Good Catch.
ARE GOOD CATCH PRODUCTS FREE OF ALL ANIMAL PRODUCTS?
Heck ya! We make all of our Good Catch products out of 100% plant-derived ingredients.
ARE GOOD CATCH PRODUCTS DAIRY-FREE?
Of course. All Good Catch products are free of dairy and lactose.
DO ANY OF YOUR INGREDIENTS CONTAIN GLUTEN?
Not a single one. Good Catch products are 100% gluten-free.
ARE GOOD CATCH PRODUCTS CERTIFIED ORGANIC?
Not just yet. We are dedicated to working toward this goal for the future.
ARE GOOD CATCH PRODUCTS CERTIFIED KOSHER?
Because we are 100% plant-based, we believe we will be certified Kosher by first production and are definitely working toward satisfying Kosher requirements.
WHY ALGAE OIL?
Algae oil provides the delicate flavor of authentic seafood to Good Catch and adds the essential omega-3 fatty acid DHA to our ingredients.
WHERE DO YOUR INGREDIENTS COME FROM?
Currently, we source all of our ingredients from North America and Europe. The algae we use in our products are farm-raised from a non-GMO North American land-based operation.
WHERE DO YOU MANUFACTURE GOOD CATCH PRODUCTS?
We will be producing Good Catch foods both in the UK and the USA to meet demand. Our state-of-the-art Good Catch manufacturing plant is underway for 2019 to prepare for rapid growth and expansion.
WHERE AND WHEN WILL GOOD CATCH BE SOLD WHEN YOU LAUNCH?
Good Catch products will be sold online through Thrive Market and Fresh Direct by the end of 2018. You’ll find Good Catch in Whole Foods Markets nationwide in the USA shortly after our online launch. Our foods will also be available in other retailers, as well as restaurants across the country. And for those of you abroad—good news—you will find us overseas in 2019 too!
